On this project to rebrand Canal+ Sport, the premium sports channel from France’s CANAL+, we collaborated with design studio DBLG.

The new identity we created stands apart from most other sports channel branding in that it makes no use of 3D, CGI or high speed photography. Instead, the distinctive and original light based identity was created almost entirely in camera.

A series of athletes dressed in black were shot in a studio lined with an arc of twenty rotating mirrors, each edged with fully adjustable lighting. The results were then edited together to create a set of highly distinctive ID’s, each of which explores a different aspect of the sporting experience from the flow of movement to the drama of impact to the emotion of winning.

The new identity launched in France and across the 4 CANAL+ channels in Africa.
